Truffles and Cave Bears: Bike in southwest France

Fifteen thousand years ago, unnamed artists created their own Sistine Chapel on the walls of a cave in southwestern France. With bold and imaginative strokes, they drew the animals of the Magdalenian Period: Cave bears and bison, rhinoceroses and aurochs.

Today, not far from the cave now known as Lascaux, elderly French men and women, accompanied by a pig or a dog, seek out truffles in the forest, from which the local chefs create their famous cuisine.

We'll enjoy both the truffles and the archeology as we bike through the Dordogne river valley.
